CUSTOM TRAILERS

Custom-designed trailers for work trucks are the backbone of efficient transport in various industries. At K & K Manufacturing, we excel in designing and manufacturing custom trailer options that align perfectly with your Georgia business requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of custom trailers does K&K Manufacturing build?

Equipment trailers, utility trailers, dump trailers, gooseneck and bumper pull configurations, and specialty units designed around a specific machine. Length, deck height, axle count, and ramp style all get set during design.

What is the difference between a gooseneck trailer and a bumper pull trailer?

A gooseneck hitches over the rear axle inside the truck bed, putting tongue weight closer to the center of the vehicle for far better stability under heavy loads. A bumper pull attaches behind the rear bumper and suits lighter hauling. Gooseneck handles more weight and tracks better in turns.

What materials are used in the construction of heavy-duty work trailers?

Primarily structural steel with reinforced framing and heavy-gauge decking where the load sits. Decking can be steel, treated wood, or aluminum, depending on what you haul. Everything gets powder-coated in our own booth before it ships.

What payload capacity can a custom-built trailer support?

Capacity comes down to axle rating, frame design, and how the load distributes across the deck. We build light-duty units for smaller crews and heavy haul trailers for serious equipment transport, engineered with a margin left over.

Can trailers be custom-built to fit specific hauling or equipment transport needs?

Yes, and that is most of what we do. We have built around skid steers, mini excavators, mowers, and equipment that does not have a category. Ramp angle, tie-down placement, deck width, and wheel well position all get adjusted to the machine.

What features should I look for when buying a commercial work trailer?

Frame construction first, since that determines whether the trailer holds its shape under load over the years. Then axle and brake ratings, tie down placement, ramp design, lighting quality, and the finish protecting the steel. A cheap trailer usually reveals itself within two seasons.

Does K&K Manufacturing offer trailer financing options?

Yes. We partner with Crest Capital, who have funded small and medium business equipment purchases since 1989. Financing keeps working capital in your business and may carry tax advantages under Section 179.
